29-Year-Old Police Officer Shot Dead In Samora Machel

A 29-year- old police officer, Constable Khanyisa Sitofile who was off-duty has been reported to be shot dead in Samora Machel on Wednesday night.

The officer was sitting in a vehicle with his two friends before they were attacked. His two friend were injured while Constable Sitofile died in a hospital in Lentegeur.

Police spokesperson Brigadier Novela Potelwa said:

“29- year- old Constable Sitofile, who lived in Khayelitsha, was attached to the Phillipi East police station. He had worked at the station for three-and-a-half years.”

Brigadier Potelwa added.

“His colleagues at Phillipi East police station described the death as a tragic loss of a quiet member who was dedicated to his work. The Western Cape SAPS management has conveyed heartfelt condolences to the constable’s family and colleagues,”

However, Hawks indicated that investigating into the murder is ongoing.
