Body of man who drowned at Jeffreys Bay beach found after extensive search effort
A man’s body was located in the shallow surf at Pellsrus Beach in Jeffreys Bay on Sunday.
A man drowned while swimming at Pellsrus Beach in Jeffreys Bay over the weekend.
National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI) crew members and Kouga lifeguards received a report of a drowning in progress on Saturday.
Three men got into difficulty in the mid-surf break.
One was able to get to shore safely and lifeguards rescued a second man from the mid-surf break, according to NSRI Jeffreys Bay station commander Paul van Jaarsveld.

“That man was assessed by paramedics, and he required no medical attention,” Van Jaarsveld added.
The third man was missing in the surf and an extensive sea and shoreline search was launched.
At around 09:30 on Sunday, a body was located in the shallow surf at Pellsrus Beach.
“The body of a man was recovered by police, assisted by the NSRI and lifeguards, and taken into the care of [the government’s] forensic pathology service. Police and [the] forensic pathology service are assisting the local family of the man who went missing on Saturday with identification,” Van Jaarsveld added.
