Court Postpones Case Against ‘Skeem Saam’ Actress Father Next Week
Skeem Saam actress Amanda Manku‘s father, Captain William Manku, who is currently facing a double murder case, will remain in custody as the trial was postponed to next week Tuesday.
Alongside him, his girlfriend Sergeant Nonhlanhla Ngubo was arrested last week for the murders that occurred in May 2021. Hitman David Khoza was also arrested in connection to the case.
The charges against the suspects include two counts of murder, attempted murder, conspiracy to commit murder, robbery with aggravated circumstances, and defeating the course of justice.
The Limpopo National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) disclosed that the accused were remanded in custody after appearing at the Lebowakgomo Magistrates Court. The case was postponed to January 23, 2024. This was due to the state’s unreadiness related to David Khoza’s profile and status verification.
The murder case involves the killing of Manku’s grandmother and mother in 2021, with a breakthrough coming almost three years after the incident.
According to police spokesperson Brigadier Hlulani Mashaba, the victims were shot by an unknown assailant. This occurred while they were fetching water from a community tap. Manku’s uncle, who was with them, was also shot and injured but survived.
Upon the suspects’ arrest, firearms, the car used in the crime, and Manku’s mother’s cell phone were seized. These items will undergo ballistic tests.
In a statement, Manku’s family confirmed the arrest. Furthermore, expressing gratitude for public support. The family strongly believes the SAPS and the judicial system to bring the matter to a close.
