Gigi Lamayne Spills Hot Tea On SA “Superficial” Hip Hop Industry

Published

Mzansi award winning hip hop aritist, Gigi Lamayne has come out to accuse SA hip hop industry being superficial and based on connection alone.

After a series of tweets that seemed to have been coming from a dark, sad and worried place by the 26 year old she later opened up on the shortcoming of the industry.

She stated and I quote “It comes with feeling that the industry is quite connection based. We’re superficial in the sense that we’re trying so hard to mimic American culture that we have forgotten how beautiful we are”.

Spilling more tea with much apparent gusto on the corruption and illicit ways of the industry saying

“I’m very angry at the South African industry because we find that talent is not the first thing being pushed now. Like I said, its connection based – who knows who and who is closing doors on who. It’s a very superficial space to be in until you become Indie and have your own team and then collaborate with a major label”.

It takes guts to call the whole industry out and the Gigi Lamayne we know has never been one to cower.
