Lupita Nyong’o Adopts a Cat After Her Breakup

Mexican-Kenyan actress Lupita Nyong’o adopts a little furry baby after revealing her breakup with Selema Masekela.

The actress shared that getting a pet came as an attempt to try something new amidst all that has happened.

The pet’s name is Yoyo and is light brown in color. Lupita shared a few snaps of the cat and seemed smitten.

“Introducing my new companion, Yoyo. I have historically been afraid of cats, but when my life was recently altered instantly, a little voice whispered to me that it was time to embrace change and new possibilities,” the Wakanda actress said in a post on social media.

While thanking Yoyo, she shared a few things she had learned about him in the short time they met.

The Black Panther actress confessed that she’s currently amongst the population who have pictures of their pets on their phones.

“I fostered Yoyo from Best Friends Adoption Center, and three days into it, I knew I could not give him up.”

“I never understood people whose phones were full of photos and videos of their pets – now I am one of those people! It may look like I saved Yoyo, but really, Yoyo is saving me.”

Her fans who stood with her solidly since the breakup have commended her efforts, sending love and light to her and Yoyo.
