Accusations of promoting fraud arose, prompting the station to investigate the interview’s approval process.

Subsequently, it was revealed that the show’s presenter, Faith Mangope, received a written warning, a claim disputed by the station.

Faith Mangope, a radio personality and businesswoman, found herself in hot water just seven months into her new role. During the Metro FM Talk with Faith Mangope on Monday night, she interviewed Lani, a TikTok influencer claiming to be a doctor.

Despite Lani’s dubious credentials and a previous incident at a Johannesburg hospital, Mangope spent an hour engaging with him. Station management reportedly issued her a precautionary warning letter, with conflicting opinions among bosses regarding the incident.

The station heavily promoted Lani’s appearance on the station’s online platforms before the show. However, the strategy to attract listeners backfired, leaving Mangope awkward as Lani failed to deliver meaningful content during the hour-long interview.

The station, embarrassed by the incident, removed the interview and photos of Mangope with Lani from its website and social media pages. SABC spokesperson Sibusiso Gumbi refuted claims that Faith Mangope received a precautionary warning from the station.
