Mihlali Ndamase’s Boyfriend Faces SARS’ R30m Tax Bill

Leeroy Sidambe, the affluent boyfriend of renowned model Mihlali Ndamase, is facing a substantial R30 million tax bill from SARS.

The body allegedly accused him of evading tax responsibilities for approximately a year.

The startling revelation unfolded as SARS sought judgment against Sidambe in the Johannesburg high court last week. Court documents reveal that Sidambe owed SARS over R24.5 million in unpaid personal tax. Also, this amount escalated to over R30 million after penalties were imposed.

Prior to seeking judgment, SARS issued a letter to Sidambe on October 17, warning of asset attachment and sale. The letter also threatened sequestration or liquidation if the substantial debt remained unpaid.

SARS informed Sidambe of his failure to address the tax debt for an additional tax year. They specified the overdue amount as R29,955,350.74. The letter urged him to make full payment within the stipulated timeframe.

They also encouraged him to seek compromise on the outstanding amount, provided it would yield a higher return to the fiscus compared to liquidation or sequestration.

SARS cautioned that failure to comply with payment or recommended remedies could result in the appointment of a third party to settle the tax debt.

The letter outlined potential consequences, including the entry of a civil judgment and the issuance of a warrant of execution for asset attachment.

In addition to these remedies, Sidambe was given the option to apply for a reduction of the amount. However, it seems that Sidambe did not make representations to settle with SARS, leading to the decision to pursue judgment against him.

When approached for comment, Sidambe claimed to be unaware of the judgment.
