Murders Of Professor Gregory Kamwendo Gets Life Sentence

The murders of A university professor have both gotten a life sentence from the Pietermaritzburg High Court after they were tried and found guilty.

Professor Gregory Kamwendo who parked his car opposite one of the flats on Durford Road just after 5pm, the professor was gunned down by two men while he was seated in his vehicle.

Kamwendo suffered several bullet wounds on his upper torso and succumbed to death thereafter at the scene.

This week, the Pietermaritzburg High Court found the two men, Oscar Mkhuliseni Mthiyane and Selby Nkuna, guilty of the offence and sentenced them to life imprisonment for the murder.

Police spokesperson Captain Nqobile Gwala said the professor was the dean of the Faculty of Arts at the University of Zululand.

She said:

The two accused were positively identified and linked to the case. The investigation conducted revealed that Nkuna was a lecturer at the same institution as the deceased.”
