“My Husband Did This” Savita Pays Tribute to Vuyo Mbuli

Over a decade after the passing of Vuyo Mbuli, his wife Savita took to her timeline to reflect on the impactful legacy he left behind.

Vuyo tragically died at the age of 46 while watching a rugby match at the Free State Stadium in Bloemfontein. Hence, he continues to be remembered for his contributions.

Sharing an image of her visit to his grave on Friday, Savita expressed admiration for Vuyo’s dedication to giving back to those in need.

In her post, she described him as a legend and highlighted the positive change he brought to the town of Port Alfred.

“You are a legend. Truly so. Little did you know the difference you would make to the lives of so many people,” she wrote. Savita went on to recount a specific initiative where Vuyo addressed the issue of unsafe informal structures along riverbanks in Port Alfred.

Inspired to make a difference, he initiated a groundbreaking private-public partnership. This partnership involved local, provincial, and national governments, as well as a bank, all showcased on TV.

Fast forward to today. There is a thriving community in Port Alfred, residing in decent homes within a relatively large township.

Savita attributes this positive transformation to the vision and efforts of her late husband, Vuyo Mbuli.
