Sibulelo Manamatela Reveals The Meaning Of Her Names

Award-winning poet-writer, Sibulelo Manamatela shares the meaning of her names and it is something interesting to read about.

Lifestyle blogger and poet, Sibulelo Manamatela is from Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu Natal and is currently based in Johannesburg, Gauteng. 

 Sharing a nice photo of herself, she wrote;

Sibulelo, correct me if I’m wrong because I don’t know IsiXhosa too well, roughly translated means ‘thankfulness’ or ‘thank you’- but point is my father was thankful okaaay.

Mpilwenhle means ‘beautiful life.’ Mpilwenhle is my favourite name (don’t call me that if you don’t know me like that lol) but I’ve always loved it because I believe it was prophetic and I know that I will have and have had a beautiful life- not perfect, but insanely beautiful.

Manamatela is my surname AKA my mother’s maiden name and I love it with all of my heart. I’m highkey glad I got it instead of my dad’s surname which is waaay too common. (Zondi, by the way)”
