Sonia Booth Speaks on Her Alleged Divorce from Matthew Booth

Former pageant queen, Sonia Booth, recently addressed the ongoing divorce proceedings with her ex-husband, former Bafana Bafana defender Matthew Booth.

In an Instagram post, the businesswoman clarified misinformation circulating on social media about their divorce, initiated by Booth on November 9, 2022.

The separation gained public attention due to allegations of cheating, with Sonia providing evidence of Booth’s alleged involvement with his current partner, Bongani Mthombeni-Moller.

Sonia claimed that Booth utilized their joint bank account and her vehicle, equipped with a tracker, for outings with Mthombeni-Moller. These outings included a road trip to Empangeni in KwaZulu-Natal, Valentine’s Day celebrations, and shared meals.

In response to the allegations, Booth denied them, asserting that they were unfounded. Mthombeni-Moller also rejected the accusations and sought a court order to compel Sonia to remove defamatory statements from her social media accounts.

Notably, Sonia emerged victorious in the defamation case against Mthombeni-Moller, and the court dismissed the matter with costs. Mthombeni-Moller was subsequently ordered to pay Sonia’s legal fees amounting to over R75,000.

However, the “new” woman in Booth’s life is currently addressing the cost order. She has requested a hearing scheduled for May. She also emphasizes that the dismissal was due to a lack of urgency, not a lack of merit.
