Studio 88 Ends New Deal With Mac G

Studio 88 has terminated Mzansi Mac G’s podcast deal. The brand had sponsored his latest episode of Podcast and Chill (episode 227), which premiered on Monday, 22nd of February

Lately, MacG had been trending on social media when he uttered some Homophobic comments and the worst part was that Twitter didn’t hesitate to cancel him asap, to be specific, the Twitter user made it his priority to make sure MacG gets canceled everywhere. He became the topic for discussion. He’s now been cancelled by two sponsors; Old Mutual, Studio 88 and suspended by SupaBets.

Few hours after partnering with the DJ, Studio 88 changed their mind because of his transphobic slurs on his podcast 

The brand’s group marketing manager, Loren Lennox made a statement to TshisaLIVE .He said,

“The Studio 88 Group stands firmly against the harmful and offensive commentary and statements made by MacG during one of his recent Podcast and Chill with MacG episodes as same goes against our core values and beliefs as a company group in SA.

In light of the above, the Studio 88 Group wishes to distance ourselves completely from the aforementioned statements, podcast and its host/s. We have therefore taken the decision to terminate, with immediate effect, any business/sponsorship relationship we may have with MacG.”
