Former Orlando Pirates and SuperSport United striker, Thamsanqa Gabuza, briefly appeared at the Alexandra Magistrate’s Court regarding a criminal case.

Thamsanqa Gabuza Court Case Postponed for Mediation

The court postponed the case to 19 December for mediation.

The TS Galaxy striker, Gabuza, is facing charges after allegedly smashing three cellphones and a laptop that belonged to his ex-girlfriend. The incident took place at her home in Sandton on 11 November.

According to the South African Police Service (SAPS), Gabuza, after being refused sex, became aggressive, pushing the complainant against the wall. He is then accused of following her to the lounge, snatching her cellphones, and smashing them against the wall. The damaged items are estimated to be worth R50,000.

Gabuza was released on R3,000 bail. The court proceedings on Monday, 11 December, were adjourned as the state informed the court that its investigation was ongoing. The case has been rescheduled for mediation on 19 December.

In a statement, Gabuza’s legal representative, Themba Ngobeni, assured that the football player will attend all court dates. He also affirmed that Gabuza will fully cooperate during proceedings.
