Wendy Mbatha Opens Up About Being Scammed by Family

Recently, social media influencer, and businesswoman, Wendy Mbatha, faced a significant setback in her business ventures.

The hustler operates Perfect Crown, NCC Skincare, and Wendy Online Clothing. Unfortunately, her skincare business suffered when she was deceived by family members she had entrusted with key roles.

Expressing the profound sense of betrayal, she shared, “It was the highest level of betrayal for me.” The incident occurred this year, impacting her business and financial standing throughout the year.

In a distressing turn of events, Wendy disclosed that the very family members she had hired stole and duplicated her skin products. This not only resulted in a considerable financial loss but also affected the well-being of customers who unknowingly purchased replicated products.

The businesswoman had to attend to clients whose skin suffered damage due to counterfeit products.

Narrating the ordeal to Zimoja, Wendy explained, “Clients bought from them, thinking they are buying from me. The family members even went on to launch their own skincare products, closely mimicking Wendy’s business plan, branding, and suppliers. The situation left Wendy grappling with trust issues, expressing, “It’s really disheartening because you don’t know who to trust.”

Despite the setback, Wendy has not mustered the courage to confront the matter directly. She acknowledged the emotional toll, stating, “I know I am talking about it now, but it’s a way of healing myself. But I don’t like not talking to people; it’s draining. But sometimes confrontation makes you vulnerable.” Despite the challenges, she is determined to recover from this business mishap and embark on a new beginning. Reflecting on the experience, she emphasized the valuable lesson learned about being cautious in choosing whom to trust and hire in the business realm.
