Young Stunna Faces Lawsuit For More Than R1 million

Published

This week has proven to be a challenging one for Amapiano sensation Young Stunna, also known as Sandile Msimango.

Young Stunna Faces Lawsuit For More Than R1 million

The artist gained attention on social media when a promoter accused him of having “diva tendencies.” The incident occurred at the Frere Summer Party in Mount Frere, Eastern Cape. Young Stunna refused to because they asked him to sit next to an unfamiliar artist.

The artist’s management company, Lawk Communications, has not commented on the matter. However, another events company based in KwaZulu-Natal has revealed that they are taking legal action against Young Stunna. Durban Base Entertainment claims they are suing him for over R1 million for being a no-show at one of their events.

Durban Base Entertainment alleges that they had booked Young Stunna in advance the previous year, but he failed to appear. According to the event management company, Young Stunna canceled on the day of the show and did not refund the booking fee. They expressed frustration, stating that they were preparing to go to court. They also emphasized on the financial and reputational damage incurred by the artist’s absence.

A summons from the High Court Of South Africa reveals that Young Stunna is accused of not fulfilling his performance obligations at Kwa Ndengezi.

The document outlines that the artist was paid a booking fee of R40,000, with extra fees for accommodation, transportation, stage hire, sound, security, lighting, hospitality rider, fencing, tent, furniture, and marketing, totaling R86,870. Durban Base Entertainment is asking for R1 million for reputational damage.

The company claims that Young Stunna pretended to be sick and refused assistance, later apologizing through a video. They highlight a perceived bias towards artists from Gauteng province and express disappointment in the artist’s behavior in smaller towns.

Attempts to reach Lawk Communications for comment were unsuccessful.
