The family of South African singer Bulelwa Mkutukana, widely known as Zahara, has reportedly launched an inquest into her untimely demise.

Zahara’s brother, Junior Mkutukana, initiated the inquest, suspecting foul play. He raised concerns that the singer might have been poisoned by unknown adversaries.

According to Sunday World, Constable Modupe documented the inquest, which the Warrant Officer Netshiundawas reviewed. The complaint alleges that on December 11, 2023, at around 12:00, Bulelwa Mkutukana complained of stomach pains while at Roodepoort.

Her folks subsequently rushed her folks to Olievedale Netcare Hospital, where they declared her dead.

“The complainant, Mr Mkutukana, alleged that on 2023-12-11 at about 12:00 he was at Roodepoort when Bulelwa Mkutukana complained of stomach pains….” read the inquest according to the publication.

Although the exact cause of Zahara’s death remains undisclosed, EWN reported her passing on December 11 at a private hospital. BBC suggests liver complications as a potential factor.

Arts and Culture Minister Zizi Kodwa confirmed Zahara’s demise in a tweet, expressing deep condolences to the Mkutukana family and acknowledging Zahara’s significant impact on the South African music scene.

The ongoing inquest and suspicions of poisoning have added a layer of mystery to the singer’s passing. This has also prompted widespread discussions and inquiries into the circumstances surrounding Zahara’s untimely demise.
