The organizers of the Afropiano Festival called out record producer DJ Maphorisa for unprofessionalism.
A few hours after Afropiano Fest shared their list of line-ups, including DJ Maphorisa, the DJ pulled out.
Heading to Instagram, the 35-year-old artist shared a flier with the festival’s intending artists’ which he crossed out.
“I’m not performing will be in Malawi @afropianofest Totally disrespectful especially a promoter coming from outside the country n trying to make money with us. All my artists are not attending this event @niapearlza @tylericu. Hope they paid @focalistic,” he captioned the picture.
The DJ’s post was followed by Afropiano Fest’s statement, declaring they had paid Maphorisa.
“It has come to our attention that one of the acts we booked (DJ Maphorisa) paid and received a contract from his management for our closing party at the one club on Sunday 22nd has decided to deny any knowledge of the booking and has gone on social media to defame our character with a hate speech even though he id sully aware of the booking and accepted the booking,” reads the statement.
However, the organizers have removed the hitmaker from the lineup, also, they have plans of opening a case against him.
“We cannot associate with this type of unprofessionalism and have decided to remove him from our line up with immediate effect. We will take every necessary legal steps to ensure this unprofessionalism is dealt with.”
In the midst of this saga, people have picked their sides. While some have said they wanted Maphorisa, some do not care.
