Back in early 2017, Akani and news anchor Abigail Visagie were a beloved celebrity couple in Mzansi. However, their relationship quietly ended in 2018. Akani then embarked on a new romance with Cape Town netball player Jo Prins in 2019. Eventually, they got engaged in 2021.
