Funeral Arrangements for Zoleka Mandela Have Been Announced

A few hours ago, the family of the deceased Zoleka Mandela announced details of her burial.

After battling with metastatic cancer for a long time, the author and activist died on the 25th of September surrounded by family.

Farewell service:

Prayers-On Wednesday 27 September 2023 at 18:00 in the Mandela family home, Soweto

The memorial service will take place on Thursday 28 September at the Mandela family home. It will be aired live and the link will be made available to the public.

The burial will be happening on Friday 29 September at 9:00 in Bryanston Methodist Church. This event, however, is closed to the media.

The proper burial is private. In the early hours of Tuesday, the family released an official statement through Instagram.

“On Monday, September 18th, Zoleka Mandela was admitted into the hospital for metastatic cancer to the hip, liver, lungs, pelvis, brain, and spinal cord.

Recent scans revealed significant disease progression including fibrosis in the lungs, as well as several emboli.

Zoleka passed away on the evening of Monday, September 25, surrounded by friends and family. Our sincerest gratitude to the medical team that took care of her.”

The 43-year-old was survived by her son Zwelami and daughters Zanyiwe, Zenzile, and Zingce Zobuhle Mandela
