Jub Jub’s Legal Troubles: Court Date Postponed Till January
Rapper and TV presenter Jub Jub, known as Molemo Maarohanye, is set to appear at the Johannesburg High Court following his arrest in August.
The Uyajola 9/9 host is facing 13 charges, including multiple counts of rape, assault, attempted murder, and kidnapping. The complainants are three ex-girlfriends—actress Amanda, songstress Kelly Khumalo, and Radio/TV host Masechaba Khumalo—along with his cousin.
During his recent court appearance, Jub Jub’s legal representative, advocate Terrence Ntsako Baloyi, sought a trial postponement. He cited the rapper’s busy schedule in December. However, Magistrate Betty Khumalo dismissed the request, issuing a stern warning to him and his legal team.
In August, the Ndikhokhele hitmaker surrendered at the Brixton police station. Baloyi expressed Jub Jub’s shock and disillusionment with the justice system. He emphasizes the perceived imbalance of power that unfairly affects men.
They expect the 43-year-old to present an argument. This includes the claim that if Amanda du-Pont had been sexually assaulted, she would have reported it during his jail time.
The rapper details a once-happy relationship with the actress, soured by infidelity revelations in 2009. He asserts that she only contacted him during his prison term for culpable homicide (2012-2017), visiting with DJ Sbu (Sibusiso Leope), and taking a photo together.
These developments showcase the legal challenges and complexities surrounding Jub Jub’s case. They shed light on the various allegations and his defense strategy.
