Nokuthula Mavuso Open Up On Her Sexual Assault Experience

Mzansi Actress, Nokuthula Mavuso speaks up on how she was sexually assaulted by her co-lead actor on set right after she got her big break and it turned into a nightmare.

SA has been tainted with yet another sexual assault case as Lorriane Moropa shares details of herself being sexual assault by a veteran actor in Lithapo, Mangaliso Ngema. 

Right after Lorraine shares her accounts with harassment Nokuthula opens up and give her story on her own experience when she was 24 years old and has just gotten her major breakthrough which quickly capsized via her twitter account as she tweeted “Worked with an actor years ago who’d harass me constantly when no one was looking. He’d lick his lips, make snaaks comments,etc. I reported him to the SE. Nothing was done. Reported again. No action. Until I refused to work. I went to the studio. Block. “Action!” I’d sit instead”.

She also stated that she had reported to her bosses at the time and they sat it off like it did not matter, and she finally decided to take her stance by refusing to act when it was time to. When they eventually deemed it important to look at the actor denied her allegations against him and it broke her.

She tweeted “It hurt deeply, but I knew nobody was coming to save me. I still refused to shoot. It was tense. I knew I was not in the wrong – I’d been wronged. Rewrites and the story was cut short…I regret nothing about standing up and fighting for myself. In fact, I regret not punching him in the face.  I was 24”.
