An unknown fire outbreak has been said to claim the live of a man and his wife whose son narrowly escaped the disaster. The three were inside when the fire broke out in strand this morning.
In the early hours of today 31st of August, at around 05:30 am, was when the incident happened. The spokesperson for Fire and Rescue Service, Jermaine Carelse said they immediately responded to the call of the fire outbreak around 05:30 am.
“The City’s Fire and Rescue Service received an emergency call just after 05:30 to a formal dwelling alight in Vredenhof Street, Strand”.
But it was too late as the fire had caused an irreparable damage which claimed the lives of two. A police spokesperson, Mihlali Majikela confirmed their death.
“A 33-year-old female and a 49-year-old male were declared dead on the scene,”
Investigation is ongoing as the cause of the fire has not yet been known.
