It is generally based on his or her biological sex OR gender identity. It includes physical, sexual, verbal, emotional, and psychological abuse. Threats, coercion, and economic or educational deprivation are involved, whether occurring in public or private life.

South Africa is waist-deep in GBV, and people are scared for their lives and well being. Women and children are extra cautious to avoid being violated, but it happens nonetheless. To avoid a misunderstanding, GBV isn’t only targetted at women and children; men also fall victim.
