Celebrity chef and media personality Somizi Mhlongo has been facing theft accusations for a while now. And he was quiet about it, but he has finally released an official statement. Sharing his part of the story and attempting to clear his name.
Hastings Moeng accused Somizi of stealing his intellectual property. To break it down for you, Hastings sent Somizi an email pitching an idea for a cooking show. The email entailed the concept he wanted for the show, ‘Dinner Kwa Somizi‘. Only for Somizi to end up starting his show with the same concept years later with Dinner At Somizi.
In the beginning, the chef refused to give a statement and indirectly called it hate. Now that buttons have bee pushed and conclusions made by fans, Somizi has released a statement. In an interview on National Tv, Somizi defends his name and idea, saying he didn’t steal anything.
Backed with just his words, he denies it all, saying he didn’t have an email, so he didn’t see this particular incriminating email. He claims he just created an email recently, and he has a management team handling his emails. All in all, he denies ever reading Hastings Moeng’s email.
