Musa Khawula in Legal Troubles with Mulaudzi

Popular entertainment blogger Musa Khawula closed 2023 with legal troubles as award-winning singer Makhadzi’s alleged boyfriend, Shumani “Masala” Lawrence Mulaudzi, filed a lawsuit against him for defamation of character.

Mulaudzi is taking legal action following Khawula’s description of him as a “dangerous thug” on X. Khawula, no stranger to legal disputes with celebrities, now finds himself facing a lawsuit from someone outside the media and showbiz sphere.

The controversy arose when Musa associated Mulaudzi with a gang named Tshisole in Thohoyandou. On December 29, Khawula wrote on his blog, “Meet Makhadzi’s dangerous thug boyfriend, Masala Mulaudzi. Masala Mulaudzi is a member of a thug group called Tshisole in Venda. The Tshisole thugs own a place called Jerusalem. Last week, one of the Tshisole thugs called Target was shot and killed while in a meeting.”

Mulaudzi was displeased with the allegations. Promptly, he sought legal counsel and served Khawula with a letter of demand on the same day, December 30, 2023.

The letter, marked as “extremely urgent,” stated,

“It is our client’s instruction that on or about the 29th December 2023, at approximately 14:43, on X (formerly Twitter), you endeavored to intentionally and lawfully broadcast and publish misleading and defamatory statements concerning our client. You caused to publish defamatory statements.”

Not only did Mulaudzi demand an apology within 48 hours, but he also initiated a criminal case against Khawula. According to Zimoja, the case was filed at Camps Bay police station in Cape Town.
