Ntsiki Mazwai Celebrates Charlotte Maxeke On Her Birthday

Charlotte Maxeke died on the 16th of October 1939 but her legacy still lives on and nothing has stopped Ntsiki Mazwai from celebrating her birthday today

 Mzansi’s poet and feminist, Ntsiki decided to pay respect to her, by going to Charlotte’s gravesite to wish her a happy birthday and thanked Charlotte for her role in dismantling patriarchy in Mzansi.

Charlotte Maxeke is a struggle icon and was the first black woman in South Africa to get a university degree.

She was also known as the “Mother of Black Freedom in South Africa,” was an unconventional woman who made a contribution at a time when it was exceptionally hard for women to rise to the fore in liberation politic

Ntsiki posted a photo of herself at Charlotte’s grave.

She captioned: “Happy birthday mama wethu…… Celebrating defiant women who go against patriarchy#CharlotteMaxekeDay”
