The River 6 Full Story, Plot Summary, Episodes, Casts, Teasers: “The River” follows the story of Khanyisa Diamond, the owner of a diamond mine, and the lengths she’s willing to go to protect her family and maintain her extravagant lifestyle.
Khanyisa, also known as Lindiwe, is married to Zweli Dikana, the provincial police commissioner. Together, they are parents to Andile and Mbali Dikana, and Lindiwe is also a stepmother to Nomonde Dikana. The Dikana family resides in a grand mansion in Pretoria East, South Africa.
In the township of Refilwe, where Khanyisa Diamonds is located, the community comprises impoverished residents, many of whom work at the mine. The Mokoena family, led by Malefu Mokoena, resides in Refilwe with her children, Thuso, Dimpho, and Itumeleng. Itumeleng is the only adopted child in the family, a secret known only to Malefu. She was found as a baby at a river and adopted by her late father, Thato Mokoena.
The River 6 Full Story
“The River” is a South African telenovela created by Phathu Makwarela and Gwydion Beynon. It’s a show made by M-Net and produced by Tshedza Pictures for the 1Magic channel on DStv. You can also watch it on Showmax, which is a subscription-based video-on-demand service by Naspers.
Starting in 2019, the show began reruns on Mzansi Magic, airing from Monday to Friday at 19:00. There are also older reruns on Mzansi Wethu, broadcasting on weekdays at 20:00 since 2021.
In 2021, Sindi Dlathu, one of the main actors, was announced as a co-executive producer for the fourth season. In November 2021, the show was renewed for its fifth season, which premiered on 7 February 2022. The series got the green light for a sixth and final season, which started on 6 February 2023.
The sixth season features Dlathu, Presley Chweneyagae, Siyabonga Thwala, Tsholofelo Matshaba, Tinah Mnumzane, Bheki Mkhwane, and Brenda Mhlongo in the leading roles. It also includes Lunga Mofokeng, Lunathi Mampofu, Galaletsang Koffman, Matshepo Sekgopi, Thapelo Sebogodi, Tina Dlathu, Thapelo Ramotshehla, Siya Sepotokele, Chuck Shisane Wa Sekgobela, Linda Mtoba, Kagiso Rathebe, and Nokuthula Ledwaba in the cast.
The drama series is set in Pretoria and revolves around the South African mining sector. It all starts with a diamond discovery in the river that flows between the impoverished township of Refilwe and the upscale neighborhood of Silver Lakes. However, this discovery soon brings both blessings and curses to the community.

Presley Chweneyagae Career
Presley Chweneyagae, born in 1984, is a well-known South African actor. He’s most famous for his leading role in the movie “Tsotsi,” which won the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film at the 78th Academy Awards.
Before “Tsotsi,” he had acted in plays and community theater projects, but this film marked his first feature film appearance.
Chweneyagae has been part of several productions for North West Arts, which is now known as the Mmabana Arts Foundation. He also played the character Puck in “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” and appeared in the play “Cards” at the Grahamstown Arts Festival.

Hlomla Dandala is a well-known South African actor, presenter, and director. You may recognize him from his TV roles as Derek Nyathi in Isidingo from 1998 to 2001, where he played the title role in Jacob’s Cross, and for hosting the reality dating show All You Need Is Love from 2002 to 2003.
In addition, he played a significant part as Jet Hlatswayo, the Minister of the Environment, who gets entangled in a political conspiracy in the SABC1 political thriller series End Game.

Lawrence Maleka Career
Lawrence Maleka is a popular South African actor and presenter. He’s best known for hosting the reality competition series Clash of the Choirs South Africa on Mzansi Magic. He took over as the host in the third season in 2016, replacing Bonang Matheba.
