Bonang Accused of Not Letting Nomalanga Host Steve Madden Party
Bonang Matheba recently introduced her latest Summer Steve Madden collection, marking a significant milestone and partnership.
To celebrate, she hosted Steve Madden parties in Durban, Cape Town, and wrapped up the festivities at the Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit in Johannesburg. In a special message, renowned American shoe designer Steve Madden acknowledged the brand’s ten years of success in South Africa.
The event was set to be emceed by BET presenter and KwaZulu-Natal beauty, Nomalanga Shozi, who had been requested months in advance. However, at the eleventh hour, Nomalanga was unexpectedly replaced, reportedly due to Bonang’s preference.
An insider disclosed that Bonang expressed her reluctance to have Nomalanga at the event. She stated, “She said she does not want that girl there.” Despite Nomalanga’s reputation as a strong TV host, the decision was made to cancel her participation. Also, she was informed that the event organizers were taking a different direction.
Nomalanga, who had already received payment for her role, was disappointed by the sudden change. The source revealed that Nomalanga was allowed to retain the deposit. However, she was sad to learn that someone she respected in the industry was behind the decision.
Zanele Potelwa, a radio and TV presenter, stepped in as the replacement host and received praise for her excellent performance. Nomalanga, on the other hand, is said to have secured a significant upcoming presenting opportunity, which she plans to announce.
In another development, Bonang Matheba shared her plans to launch a talent grooming business, aiming to nurture “the next Bonang Matheba.”
In a conversation with Thando on 947, Bonang expressed her concern about the lack of effective talent management in the SA entertainment industry. Despite attempts to obtain a comment from Bonang, there has been no response so far.
